I used to be the contractor.
I started out in retail sales, and I spent about 15 years there learning how people decide who to trust, and how much a fast, friendly answer is worth.
Then I got into construction and never looked back: commercial, residential, new builds, remodels, you name it. I've stood in a lot of kitchens talking with homeowners, and I know the side of the business nobody puts in the brochure. You're on a job all day, the phone rings and you can't answer it. Leads go cold. You mean to follow up with that customer from last week and it slips. You know you need new customers, but you're too busy working to go find them.
I paid for a website once. It never brought in a single call. Not one.
Construction ended for me the hard way. I went through three knee surgeries, and one of them got infected and nearly killed me. I couldn't go back to the work I loved, so I needed a new business. I knew exactly where to look, because I knew every hole I'd fallen into myself.
